Group Dates
(for Ages Under 16)

Organize a water carnival, including water balloons, squirt guns, hoses, etc.

Invite several couples over to make cookies. When they're still warm, take them to the hospital and visit a neighbor or friend or visit a retirement home.

Have a photo scavenger hunt, or see who can be the most creative with one roll of film. Find out who can get the most interesting shot of the same subject. Ask a member of your group who doesn’t know the plan to write down about 10 random objects or ideas. Then take pictures of the items on the list. (Cameras that make instant prints, like Polaroid cameras, or digital cameras are best).

Have a waffle party where everyone brings their own topping.

Spend an evening working on a hobby or craft activity with your friends. Mold articles out of clay, work on a potter's wheel, modge podge a picture, learn to macramé, or any number of other fun craft ideas.

Have a "come as you are" party/date. Call your date at an odd hour during the day, when you know that they will be in their pajamas or bathing suit and tell them that they must come to the party/date wearing what they are wearing at that moment. It will be tons of fun!

Go to a local thrift store and buy the largest pair of pajamas or jogging clothes you can find. One pair for each person. Then go home, put them on over your regular clothes and stuff them with pillows, blankets, etc. and have a sumo wrestling match.

Invite guests to a Peanuts party with Snoopy cards instructing each guest to bring his own security blanket and to come representing his favorite character from this famous cartoon series. Decorate with Peanuts posters, stuffed toys, and bowls of peanuts. Sit on the security blankets and read aloud from Peanuts wit and wisdom, and munch on frosted grahams and gigantic lollipops.

Have a lip sync party or contest.

Invite someone to teach the group how to lead music. Then form an orchestra using your imagination to create instruments out of common household items.

My friends and I made 19 gallons of pudding and put it in a kiddy pool which was on a giant tarp. We had wrestling matches in the kiddy pool but ended up just dumping it on the tarp and had a giant pudding fight with about 20 people. We smelled like pudding for a few days, but it was the most fun we've ever had in our lives.

Eat dinner with your left hand tied to that of the person on the left, and your right to the person on the right.

Lay household products on a table (soap, hair spray, cereal, etc.) with each product identified by a number. Put corresponding numbers in a hat. Each couple draws a number, and has 30 minutes to develop an advertisement for their product (commercial, jingle, skit, or any combination). After 30 minutes, each couple makes a presentation. Then vote on the product you'd be most tempted to buy based upon the advertisement.

Go on a photo scavenger hunt. This is an excellent group date! Make up a list of pictures required for the scavenger hunt in the mall, i.e. pose with a mannequin, with a security guard, with a celebrity (like a movie poster), at a fountain, reading magazines, etc. Both people must be in each shot, so this requires asking many strangers to take your picture! After all the pictures are taken and everyone meets at the designated spot, take your film to a one-hour photo place. Eat dinner in the food court while they're developing, then pick up your pictures and laugh at them over dessert!

Have a tailgating party, without the game. Have a competition between cars for the best outfits, food, music, etc.
